We are members of the American Contract Bridge League or ACBL.  The ACBL has about 160,000 members in Canada and the United States.  The League is divided into more than 300 local organizations known as units.  Each unit is a member of one of 25 districts.  We are Unit 479 in District 20.

Unit 479, with about 130 members, is responsible for the promotion and advancement of bridge in the area.  We work in cooperation with the ACBL and District 20 to support the programs and goals of the organization.  District 20 publishes a comprehensive bi-monthly newspaper, The Trumpet, copies of which are delivered to the local club.  The Trumpet can also be found online at the District 20 web site.

The unit has a board that holds monthly meetings to conduct unit business.  The unit sponsors a Unit Game held once a month, and holds a larger tournament called a sectional once a year in early June.  District 20 holds regional tournaments throughout the year.  The Emerald Empire Regional is held in August in Eugene in odd numbered years.

The unit is charged with supervising the local ACBL clubs in our jurisdiction.

District 20 covers some of northern California, Vancouver, Washington, northwestern Nevada, including Reno, and all of Oregon and Hawaii.  District 20 is further divided into 28 units of which we are one.
